Project Overview

AskInfosec: Your AI-Powered Partner for Cybersecurity Policy and Procedure Management

AskInfosec is an AI-powered tool designed to optimize the creation and assessment of security policies, procedures, and compliance. Users can upload security documents and policies to train the AI model for enhancing internal company procedures and streamlining the completion of cumbersome forms, covering everything from general topics to specific compliance standards.

I designed a logo and website within a week to meet a tight deadline for participating in the fast-paced competition in the Artificial Intelligence realm. The logo and its components are integral to establishing the brand’s identity, while the website serves as the hub for all the information needed to market its offerings to target clients.

Logo Design

Designing a logo that embodies innovation, technology, and security

I began my design process by immersing myself in the brand’s vision and mission, gaining a deep understanding of its goals and how it intends to serve its clients. I sketched and presented several logo concepts, from which my client selected their favorite. I chose purple as the primary color to symbolize innovation and the power to streamline complex processes, while the blocky, edgy typeface conveys a strong technological feel.

The final logo embodies security, with its three sides representing the brand’s core principles: consistency, accuracy, and foresight.

Web Design

Designing a website to gain trust and traction

I developed a moodboard to draw inspiration from similar websites and learned that using screenshots or icons is crucial for helping users visualize product usage. Additionally, modern, tech-focused websites often utilize darker backgrounds to suggest sophisticated solutions.

For the web design, I started by establishing the fundamental elements–the typography, color schemes, buttons, and icons. I also set the color palette for the company’s actual product, which guided their development.

Following this, I created a low-fidelity mockup, which I then refined into a medium-fidelity prototype, featuring gradients and animations to enhance interactivity, motion, and appeal to its target clients.

Project Results

What Now?

The website is now live, and they’re currently servicing tech companies by optimizing cybersecurity policy creation and assessment. They have updated their website to reflect their new product designs and have opted for a fully dark background.

Reflections

Learnings

Throughout this project, I gained several valuable insights:

  • Tight Deadline: The project was completed in just one week, thanks to the active collaboration between myself and the client, despite the time difference. Establishing clear communication and dependency during the project kick-off (or even beforehand) was crucial for ensuring timely feedback and delivery.
  • Logo Color Choices: Due to budget constraints and the tight timeline, I initially designed the logo for lighter backgrounds, not anticipating its use on darker backgrounds. In hindsight, I should have considered designing a logo version for dark mode as well, to ensure it stays noticeable and legible in all contexts.
